Terms of Service

1. The Service

Focal analyses YouTube videos and returns a summary, verdict, and related content (together, a "Summary") to help you decide whether a video is worth your time. Summaries are generated from publicly available captions and are intended as informational aids, not authoritative reviews.

2. Accounts

You may use some features without an account. To access personalised lenses or saved summaries you must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, scrape the service, or reverse-engineer the API.
• Submit URLs with the intent to harass, defame, or target individuals.
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of YouTube's Terms of Service.
• Resell or commercially redistribute Summaries without our written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion and without prior notice.

4. Plans, Billing, and Cancellation

Free accounts receive 3 summaries per day. Focus accounts ($10/month or $100/year) and Power accounts ($20/month or $200/year) remove that limit and unlock additional features. Billing is processed by LemonSqueezy. You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period and no refunds are issued for unused time, except where covered by our 14-day money-back guarantee. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

5. Intellectual Property

Focal and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Focal. Video titles, captions, and metadata belong to their respective rights holders. Summaries generated by Focal are derived works; you may use them for personal, non-commercial purposes. We do not claim ownership of content you submit to the service.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Focal is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that Summaries are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Focal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.

8. Third-Party Services

Focal integrates with third-party services including Google (authentication), YouTube (caption data), Stripe (payments), and Cloudflare (infrastructure). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Focal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
